When Is the Best Time to Visit Arusha City?
June to October brings cool, dry weather and coincides with peak safari season across the Northern Circuit. January to March is excellent for Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru climbs and for the Serengeti calving season, while the November–December short rains and March–May long rains bring lush scenery, fewer visitors and lower rates.
How Do You Get to Arusha City?
Most travellers fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), about 50 kilometres from the city — roughly 1 hour by road — while the smaller Arusha Airport handles domestic flights to the Serengeti, Zanzibar and other airstrips. Overland arrivals from Nairobi cross the Namanga border and take approximately 5 to 6 hours, and good roads connect the city to Moshi, Karatu, Tarangire and Lake Manyara.
