Upon your arrival in Nairobi, our friendly team will warmly welcome you at the airport and brief you about your safari. You will then begin your journey to Amboseli National Park, one of Kenya’s most scenic safari destinations, located near the Kenya–Tanzania border.

The drive from Nairobi to Amboseli is approximately 240 km and takes around 4 to 5 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. On arrival, you will check in, relax and settle in before heading out for your first evening game drive.

Amboseli National Park is famous for its large elephant herds and beautiful views of Mount Kilimanjaro. The evening game drive gives you a wonderful introduction to the park as wildlife becomes more active in the cooler hours of the day.

Today is dedicated to exploring Amboseli National Park. You will begin with an early morning game drive, one of the best times to enjoy wildlife activity and possibly catch a clear view of Mount Kilimanjaro at sunrise.

Amboseli is known for its open plains, swamp areas, acacia woodland and seasonal wetlands. These habitats attract a wide range of animals, including African elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, hyenas and many bird species.

Throughout the day, your expert guide will help you understand the local flora, fauna and animal behavior. Since this is a fully private safari, you have the flexibility to discuss your preferred timing with your guide and adjust the day according to your interests.

Main Experience: Full-day private game drives in Amboseli

After breakfast, you will depart Amboseli and drive towards Lake Naivasha, a beautiful freshwater lake located in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley. The journey takes approximately 4 to 5 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions.

On arrival, you will check in and enjoy a relaxing afternoon by the lake. Later, you will proceed for a scenic boat ride on Lake Naivasha, where you may see hippos, fish eagles and a variety of waterbirds.

You will also enjoy a guided nature walk at Crescent Island, compliments of Imara Africa Safaris. Crescent Island offers a peaceful walking safari experience where you can see giraffes, zebras, antelopes and other plains wildlife in a calm and open environment.

After breakfast, you will drive from Lake Naivasha to Lake Nakuru National Park, a journey of about 1 to 2 hours. Lake Nakuru is one of Kenya’s most rewarding parks for birdlife, rhino viewing and scenic landscapes.

Upon arrival, you will enjoy game drives in the park. Lake Nakuru is famous for flamingos and other waterbirds, although bird numbers may vary depending on water levels and season. The park is also a good place to look for both black and white rhinos.

Other wildlife you may encounter includes buffaloes, Rothschild’s giraffes, zebras, baboons, warthogs, antelopes and, with some luck, lions or leopards. The park’s mix of lake views, woodland, grassland and rocky viewpoints makes it a beautiful safari stop in the Great Rift Valley.

After breakfast, you will depart Lake Nakuru and drive towards Masai Mara National Reserve, one of Africa’s most famous safari destinations. Along the way, you will enjoy scenic views of the Great Rift Valley and rural Kenya.

The drive will include a stop at a Curio shop, where you can browse locally made souvenirs, crafts and gifts. On arrival in the Masai Mara area, you will check in and relax before your cultural visit.

Later, you will enjoy a Maasai village visit, where you will be accompanied by a Maasai moran for a nature walk to the village. This experience gives you a chance to learn about Maasai traditions, culture, lifestyle and their connection to the land. If you prefer not to take the nature walk, you can be dropped off by the vehicle at the village.

Today is fully dedicated to game drives in Masai Mara National Reserve. The Masai Mara is one of the best safari destinations in Africa, famous for its open savannah plains, big cats, rich wildlife and year-round game viewing.

Your guide will help you explore different areas of the reserve depending on wildlife movement and the season. You may see lions, elephants, buffaloes, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, hyenas, gazelles, topis, jackals and many bird species.

Masai Mara is also one of the best places in Kenya to search for the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. From July to October, the reserve may also offer the chance to witness the Great Migration, when large herds of wildebeests and zebras move through the Mara ecosystem.

Since your safari is fully private, you can discuss the day’s timing with your guide. You may choose an early start, a full-day game drive with picnic lunch or a more relaxed safari pace.
