Luxury Tented Safari Camp with Panoramic Views
Experience the award-winning Elewana Loisaba Tented Camp, one of Kenya's most luxurious safari camps, perched dramatically on the edge of an escarpment overlooking the vast Laikipia wilderness and Mount Kenya. Located within the 58,000-acre Loisaba Conservancy, the camp combines exceptional hospitality, elegant tented suites, unforgettable wildlife encounters, and world-class conservation. Guests enjoy game drives, guided bush walks, horse riding, camel trekking, cultural visits, and breathtaking scenery, making it one of Kenya's premier luxury safari destinations.
Loisaba Tented Camp occupies a dramatic escarpment edge in Laikipia, its 12 luxury tents gazing across a vast sweep of wilderness towards Mount Kenya. Part of the award-winning Loisaba Conservancy, the camp couples contemporary African elegance with a serious conservation story, and an infinity pool that seems to spill into the plains below.
The camp lies within the 58,000-acre Loisaba Conservancy on the Laikipia Plateau, approximately 260 km from Nairobi, reached by daily flights from Wilson Airport to the Loisaba airstrip or a 5.5 to 6-hour drive via Nanyuki. Elephant, big cats and northern specialities move through the conservancy, and the private setting unlocks activities beyond standard game drives, including horseback safaris, community walks, photography hides and star-lit sundowners.
Each of the 12 custom-built tents features polished wooden floors, floor-to-ceiling windows and an expansive private veranda; Family Combination Tents join two tents by a private walkway for flexible group stays. A spa, gym and all-inclusive dining options complete the top-tier package. Sundowners on the escarpment edge, electric vehicle charging and star-gazing after dinner make the most of Laikipia’s clear skies and the conservancy’s forward-looking ethos.
Laikipia combines superbly with the Masai Mara National Reserve; hop south on the 3-day fly-in Maasai Mara safari for a two-region itinerary.
Laikipia is generous year-round, but each season plays differently. June to October is the classic window: dry ground, concentrated wildlife and the sharpest views towards Mount Kenya from the escarpment. January to March brings warm, settled weather and excellent light for photographers, while the short rains of November and December green the plateau and draw in migratory birds. March to May is the value play — lush landscapes, fewer visitors and luxury at its most accessible.
Whichever season you choose, the daily rhythm follows the light: an early game drive while predators are still moving, a slower midday around the infinity pool or spa, then a second outing rolling into sundowners as the plains cool. The photography hide rewards patient midday hours when other guests are resting.
Cultural Maasai visits are best arranged a day in advance so the camp can coordinate with the community.
The Luxury En-suite Tent is the camp's signature accommodation, combining elegant African-inspired décor with modern comforts. These custom-built canvas tents feature polished wooden floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and expansive private verandas that overlook the surrounding wilderness. Spacious interiors and luxurious bathrooms create a peaceful retreat after a day of safari adventures.
Ideal for families and small groups, the Family Combination consists of two adjoining luxury tents connected by a private walkway. Each family unit includes one Double Tent and one Convertible Twin/Double Tent, allowing flexibility while maintaining privacy and comfort.
Both tents feature their own en-suite bathrooms, indoor lounge areas, and private verandas, making them perfect for families travelling together.
